I am sure many of you have a “hoarder” somewhere in your life. A parent, grandparent, spouse or friend (surely not you). I never watched the TV show but have heard this is sometimes a serious disorder. So as not to progress into this diagnosis, I have been decluttering for a few years now.
To be exact I have been dabbling in decluttering. Well enough was enough. I recently hired a coach, Andrea Sharb, to help me with this process of letting go and developing systems to begin decluttering, giving away, organizing and learning to live with less.
I was wasting way too much time looking for stuff, organizing and decluttering. What I found is that I am a “sentimentalist”, not sure if that is a word. Most of my stuff is sentimental (Kids, trips, school stuff, etc). A lot of stuff was built up after living in the same house for 23 years, three kids in activities and sports, having my mother move in with us and having a lot of hobbies. I thought in upcoming issues I would walk you through the processes I will be doing in the “declutter” phase of my life. Step One : Clothes
Action Step: Determine if it is time to declutter. Please visit Andrea’s Web site if you want help doing the same with your own life.
