Dental CEO’s, how well do you know your family?
My three children, my mother, and I recently returned from a trip that took us to 4 countries: Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and my home land Croatia. We encountered incredible scenery and history.
However, the greatest part of the trip was visiting and getting to know some relatives we had not seen in over 9 years, some new additions we had never met, and watching my mom converse with people that she had not seen in close to 50 years.
Prior to the trip, I had drawn a family tree of who we were going to meet for the kids. I carried around a notebook getting addresses, names, and birthdays of all our relatives. I can think of no greater gift than introducing my kids to their relatives all over the world. With the technology we have today, they can easily keep up with them on Facebook, etc. (Remember us older people that had to write letters??)
On this trip alone we met over 17 cousins, which is only a small part of my family tree. Might I add, we didn’t have to stay in one hotel the entire trip, LOL. I’m also proud to say what a friendly and loving extended family we have. As I left, my 1st cousin said, “Mario, it’s your job to make sure that these kids keep in touch.” I will do my best.
When the kids and their family want to visit Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Vancouver, or Australia (just to mention a few), they will have somewhere to stay.
The trip made me wonder how many of you really know who your family is and where they are. I think it would be a great gift for you to share with your kids and family. Who knows what incredible gifts you may find in this process?
