“It’s not what you make, it’s what you keep”
“The goal is not to get big, it’s to get rich”
Why aren’t more people wealthy? Here are some main reasons and quick tips on how to combat them.
- They never clearly define wealth! What is your definition of wealth, how much money or net worth must you have to be wealthy? The definition is different for everyone. If you have done your net worth calculations you know where you are at now. Use this number to discover a definition for you.
- They make it a moving target. How can you ever achieve a monetary goal if you keep moving it? Imagine if your boss gave you a goal for the year and then every month moved it up or down. How frustrating. Keep a goal written down and achieve it first before moving it up. Example “I want to increase my net worth 10% this year.”
- They define it in ways that make it feel impossible to achieve. Therefore;
- They don’t believe they can ever really achieve it. Your numbers and goals can be audacious but they also must be achievable and realistic. Setting your goal at 1 billion dollars, a jet and a yacht might be nice but probably not realistic. Shoot for the yacht first and see how it goes.
